Admiral de Saumarez Bar

The Admiral de Saumarez Bar at The Duke of Normandie sits half way up rue de Berthelot, less than a minute’s walk from the bustling Centre of St Peter Port’s High street; with another entrance through the delightful sun-trapped Beer Garden on the other side of the Hotel.

Thoughtfully restored in the 90’s using reclaimed timbers, with well known amusing quotes painted on the sides, the Bar is full of maritime memorabilia, of particular note is a still functioning ship’s compass.

The famous Admiral Saumarez is represented in a fine portrait, but those with an eye for detail may notice the numerous historic documentation and beautifully engraved tables telling the tales of his great naval victories.

The Admirals attracts a mix of Guernsey locals and Hotel residents who enjoy the company of the friendly staff, not to mention the extensive choice of beverages. With a comprehensive wine list and coffee menu, it is a great place to relax and take in the laid back life of Guernsey.

 

The Admiral offers traditional English pub meals at lunch and dinner.
